CA Sb572: Ask Schwarzengger to Veto Harvey Milk Day
June 26, 2009
Harvey Milk was no Martin Luther King, Jr.
If California’s Senate has it’s way, California’s public school children will be singing the praises of homosexual activist Harvey Milk, and his radical multisexual agenda every May 22nd. In a non-opt out day— schools, children and parents will have no choice but to celebrate this man and the radical agenda of his political movement.
Sound familiar? It is. The governor vetoed this identical legislation less than a year ago saying that support of Harvey Milk and his policies were not a part of public school education. He was right, but those pushing the same-sex agenda in our public schools are hoping that this is the year he’ll change his mind.
[For more info read Beetle Babee: Got Milk? Harvey Milk Day Bill Passes CA Senate Education Committee]
The opposition remains strong among the “silent majority.” A recent poll found only 1 out of 5 Californians want a statewide “day of significance” honoring Harvey Milk.
But homosexual-agenda advocates are turning up the heat. Sean Penn, who starred in the movie “Milk” about the late San Francisco homosexual activist, has talked to Schwarzengger to ask him to sign SB 572. So has Milk’s homosexual activist nephew.
Homosexual-bisexual-transsexual activist groups are working hard to pass “Harvey Milk Gay Day” into law. They’re generating calls and emails to Schwarzenegger urging him to sign this horrible bill.
This is a dynamic situation that could go either way. But one thing’s for sure. If Arnold Schwarzenegger receives more calls, emails and faxes supporting “Harvey Milk Gay Day,” he will be tempted to sign it.
What you Can do
Kindly but firmly tell him or her, “I’m calling to urge the Governor to veto SB 572, “Harvey Milk Gay Day,” like he did last year.
Parents don’t want this, and children don’t need this. Schools should teach children academics, not the ‘lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender’ values of Harvey Milk.”
Beliefs/Quotes from Harvey Milk:
- Religion is DANGEROUS: “More people have been slaughtered in the name of religion than for any other single reason. That, my friends, that is true perversion.” (Harvey Milk, speaking at a homosexual rally in 1978.)
- All doors of sexual experimentation MUST be opened: “If a bullet should go through my head let that bullet go through every closet door.” (Harvey Milk quote)
- If you think you might be homosexual, you MUST declare yourself gay or lesbian: “Milk believed strongly that coming out was the responsibility of every gay man and woman.” (Source)
- Gay and lesbian “marriages” are good and natural: “So much of the spirit represented with the Supreme Court’s decision last week is the spirit of Harvey Milk and his legacy manifesting today in real change.” (San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom on the unveiling of a bust of Harvey Milk at city hall, May 28, 2008. (Source)

You are a bigot you know that? You try to fight something that doesn’t actually effect you in a negative way, instead you make it seem like this huge thing that will destroy civilization. You are just like every other homophobic nut out there finding an excuse to feel superior over someone else.
FYI: 1 out of 5 Californians want a Harvey milk day? I’d like to know where this magical poll came from, and what relevance this poll even has? I am sure the holiday celebrating Martin would have similar polls at the day it became a reality as well. So don’t be foolish and spread your useless propaganda and word play.
Why would the majority care so much about a day for the memory of someone who was fighting for minority rights? Why would they even try to stop that? It’s just a day of remembrance, and by the way, guess what? Children knowing homosexuals exist IS NOT A BAD THING.
Tell me how it is bad? You think they are suddenly going to start having homosexual sex? So, telling them about heterosexual marriages between prince and princesses and stuff wont do the same thing? Hypocrite.

Celeste:
1. Did you mean to say 1 in 5 don’t want harvey milk day? Because that is the situation. And it matters because the holiday is a state holiday. The state represents the people. If the state doesn’t want to represent a man who hated religion then they shouldn’t have to.
2. Harvey Milk was not killed because of his sexual orientation. He was killed because a crazy person wanted his job. He is in no way like Martin Luther King Jr.
3. Celebrating him in the schools is problematic because it’s not clear why we should be celebrating him. Do you know why?
4. Children knowing about homosexuality is not the job of the schools. It’s the job of the parent.

1. Ding Ding Ding Ding, your intent is religious, thanks for proving my point. I am not religious yet I always have to deal with x-mas garbage, if it’s for EVERYONE then why is xmas celebrated on the national scale? I don’t want to celebrate it! So I do not! How hard is that? Not hard at all, for someone with half a brain.
Oh please tell me. and what does his religion have to do with your nonsense? This is just a homophobic rant and you know it. By the way, I am fairly certain he was Jewish and followed the faith.
2. Dan White was anti gay, I guess you want to praise him for that? But it isn’t that he was antigay but about how his trial brought forth ludicrous corrupt verdicts that were definitely due to being antigay.
and whether you want to realize it or not, we are celebrating Harvey Milk’s support for us, and he was fighting for us, and he died doing just that. Your attempts at disgracing his efforts, will fail.
3. Wrong, it is clear why you would be against it, being antigay, but again, I see no mention of schools. Why do you ranters always make it about the children? Is it your need to exploit children in every cause you can to win oppressive and hateful political movements?
or maybe you have no other poor excuses? “OMG THE CHILDREN WHAT ABOUT THE CHILDREN” please, that radical insanity has got to be put to a stop.
4. Oh really? It’s the job of the parents? Wall of hypocrisy? If it was the job of the parents to teach their children every basic reality, we wouldn’t have SCHOOLS.
Need I inform you that your schools are consistently teaching heterosexual relationships. There are alot of gay/lesbian/transgendered children, whether you want to believe it or not.
and again, I fail to see how this is even relevant. I’m sure all the racists don’t want to see a Martin Luther King day because they don’t want to teach that African Americans are equal. OMG basic realities, basic realities.

1. Harvey Milk was anti-religious, and made anti-religious statements (I don’t want to call him a bigot but, it sounds a little intolerant). Just as if he was saying racist comments: I don’t think he deserves a holiday. Also, the holiday will be celebrated in the schools. Non-opt out.
2. It doesn’t matter if Dan White was anti or pro anything. He didn’t kill Harvey Milk because he was gay. What happened at the trial in no way justifies a state holiday celebrated in schools. Talk about it in the news. Write books about it. Blog about it. But I don’t see a reason for a holiday.
3. Everything is about children because this bill is designed to target children in schools.
Text of bill:
“This bill would provide that the Governor proclaim May 22 of each year as Harvey Milk Day, and would designate that date as having special significance in public schools and educational institutions and would encourage those entities to conduct suitable commemorative exercises on that date.”
You never answered the question of what children and citizens of California would be celebrating on Harvey Milk day.
4. Discussing issues of sexuality is the job of the parents. Public education is supposed to teach academics not sexual orientation. Your comment exposes your own interest in normalizing homosexual behavior despite its risks both physical and psychological, (and it’s implications for the family structure).
Happy fourth of July Celeste!

Lol, okay, I am going to make this brief ( probably not ) since I have to go soon. I can see it is pointless arguing with a right wing conspiracy nut who thinks their sexuality is superior to all others and who feels the need to oppress little things because of their religious homophobic intent that is ONLY masquerading as anything rational.
Sorry, but I am not a “nice” person when it comes to those who try to justify their phobias when they use that phobia to spit in the face of others. Your family structure is a lie, all families are different, and if you’d think for a second… You’d of realized that.
By the way homosexual behavior IS normal, for your information, there are plenty of documentations about it. The ones who make it seem not so, are the ones only following their hatreds. And don’t give me that “love the sinner, hate the sin” garbage. If you hate something that defines part of a person, then you hate the person as a whole, period.
As for religious “Anti-Religious” I see no such evidence of that. Also I am not “Anti” but I certainly have quite a few things to say about christianity, but I am not going to speak about that here. Lets just say, my beliefs should not effect your beliefs in anyway, and I am not going to force you to believe in what I believe.
But wait.. I can’t say the same for the opposite, now can I? Because I am being forced to believe in garbage from people who hate who I am. Maybe they are even jealous that they can’t be as open as I because their religious dogma prevents them from doing so, so they need to recruit to express their jealousy.
Can I get married to my girlfriend? No, why? Because I am forced into religious dogma which violates the very US constitution of freedom of religion. Can I have equal respect from the other citizens? Nope, why? Because of that same religious dogma.
Let us celebrate this persons death, as he was fighting for our rights and died doing so. Whether or not he was killed because he was gay, is irrelevant, he died fighting for us ^__^

This is an absolutely disgusting article. It’s quite typical of you haters, using blackmail and fear to express your beliefs. Let’s thank the lord that our children are supporting equality more and more every day. Harvey Milk was a true MLK figure, if not, then he is even better.

Thank goodness for the first amendment! Can you please explain your Martin Luther King Jr. parallel? How exactly is Harvey Milk like him? He was killed for his job (not for anything he was trying to promote), he thought religion was dangerous (see quote above, MLK was a preacher). Do you have any similarities? Similarities that deserve a state holiday?

Oh celeste, the only hatred in this post or the comments section is coming from you. You have still failed to justify a state holiday for a man who was vocally anti-religious (did you read the post above that quotes him? ““More people have been slaughtered in the name of religion than for any other single reason. That, my friends, that is true perversion.” (Harvey Milk, speaking at a homosexual rally in 1978″), and who was killed for his job. You have failed to acknowledge or explain why this holiday needs to be celebrated in schools, or why this person would be educational for children. He didn’t die fighting for “rights”. He died because someone was crazy and wanted his job.
Prop 8 may have had a lot of religious people voting for it, but that fact does not change all the non-religious reasons for protecting the traditional, natural, biological structure of society.
Children have a right to a mom and a dad. This structure is the healthiest and most stable in every study every done.
There are no studies that can prove two moms or two dads are as good as one mom and one dad. And while yes, there are lots of children living with just their dad or just their mom, or being shifted between both or grandma and grandpa, none of these are as good as the married mom and dad. This is a fact. The married mom and dad family structure deserves protection.
Marriage does not exist to grant benefits or social status. It exists for the orderly and responsible organization of society. It is the ultimate expression of equality because it joins one man and one woman. I’m sorry if you feel disrespected, but the marriage institution is open to all who choose to participate. There is no sexual orientation requirement. Only a gender requirement.
Marriage is pretty beautiful.
p.s. This is a separate issue from marriage, but the only reason homosexuality was removed from the list of APA’s disorders is because of pressure from activists. Doesn’t sound very scientific to me. Read BB’s article here.
